TRACK - FEBRUARY, 2007 ISSUE

RE REMARKS - Bill Pintariac

By the time you get this issue of TRACK, it will be the end of January and the memories of the holidays will likely to remembered as “we worked so hard, and now they’re over” And now begins the season of it lasts a long time, but we’re having fun. Racing season is about to get started. Its’ about this time of year that Sandy (my wife) says she can tell that I need to get back racing. Too many late apexes and drafting on the freeways. She usually just goes to sleep and hopes that we get there in one piece. So far, so good.

Anyway, the racing season is about to get underway. The Florida races have come and gone. Next up for Mahoning Valley is the awards presentation. As with last year, we will be presenting awards to region members who have contributed above and beyond for the region. We will be holding the presentation at the March membership meeting on March 9th. Come cheer your fellow members.

The NeOhio Comp clinic returns after a year’s absence on March 17, 2007 at the IX Center in Cleveland. A worthwhile event to attend for anyone that races or has an interest in racing. Nice time to see some people who may not have seen since the fall.

The Mahoning Valley Drivers School is scheduled for April 20, 21, and 22.  It’s a double school and we are expecting a large turnout of students. Bill Kasmer has accepted the position of Chief Instructor, and the region can certainly use all of your help.  Thanks in advance for all those who help out, and a call for those you haven’t been to a driver’s school to come out and see what it’s like. It’s interesting to watch a potential race driver begin his or her “career” at a school. The range of emotions; fear, excitement, nervousness, and who knows what else. Come on up and help these new drivers, they are the future of our club. Also a driver school is a great place to become involved in any other race specialty, Flagging and Communication, Tech, Timing and Scoring, or whatever else that interests you. The people who volunteer at these specialties are always willing to meet new people and involve them in an event.

Hope to see you soon.

These are a shortened version of the rule changes and you should consult the GCR for exact wordings and specifications.

Please feel free to contact me for Annual inspection prior to your races and with the change in the rule for Annual inspection,it would be a good idea to have a second Annual done later in the year and eliminate some of the rush in 2008.
