TRACK - JANUARY, 2004 ISSUE

Minutes of the December Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by R.E. Paul Morrison.

Minutes of the October meeting were approved as published in Track.

Membership Chairman, Sandi Kryder, reported that we have 217 members.

Treasurer's Report was given. See Sandi or Paul for details.

Old Business:

1. A motion was made at the last meeting regarding giving drivers a discount to reduce funds on hand equitably. This was brought up again in the Executive Meeting and the recommendation is made to proceed with plans for such a discount. Specifics will be worked out in the next Executive Meeting, will be published in the March edition of Sports Car and also publicized at the Mini Con and on the internet.

2. It was suggested that instructors for April's driving school be given an opportunity on Friday evening to drive the track to become familiar with upgrades to the course before the students take the wheel.

3. Upgrades at the Nelson Ledges track should be publicized at the Mini Con.

4. The October race did make money. The numbers seem to be pretty much holding steady at Nelson. Sandi asked that any driver canceling out give her a call, even as late as the day before the race. MVR policy is not to penalize drivers for cancellations when notice is given.

New Business:

1. MVR Banquet. Date will be January 24, 2004. Greg Grucella made a motion, seconded by Jim Morgan, that invitations be sent out to the general membership as he needs an RSVP for a count for meals. The format will be similar to last year and we expect the cost to be $27.00 per person. Suggestions would be appreciated for a speaker. Greg suggested a special effort be made to encourage those getting awards to be present.

2. MVR will be hosting the Nediv Round Table March 13 and 14th at the Avalon Restaurant. This is an excellent opportunity to reach out, especially to the East Coast drivers.

3. Paul Morrison reported on the Northeast Division Mini Con held in Rocky Hill, CT. The program and food were excellent. Steve Johnson, Phil Clark and Barb Lungquist from National Headquarters attended.

4. Drivers' School April 16, 17 and 18 will be a double school. Registration will be available on-line. Registration will be Friday afternoon. Classroom will be Friday afternoon with familarization rides Friday evening. Drivers will start driving their own cars on Saturday morning. We will definitely need instructors and group leaders. Bill Pintaric will be our Chief Instructor. The need for honest evaluation of the drivers was stressed.

A motion to adjourn was made by Bill Pintaric, seconded by Sandi Kryder. Motion passed.

Mary Graham
