Minutes of the February Membership Meeting

Competition Clinic

IX Center Conference Center

Neohio is once again organizing its Competition Clinic, for Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the IX Center Conference Center.  We skipped this event in 2006, but due to the feedback about how valuable our Comp Clinic is, we decided to bring it back.  Please hold the date.  We will provide more information as we plan the event.

We will be recruiting businesses for vendor tables and various sponsorships.  Interested businesses should contact Sherrie Weitzenhof at sweitzenho@aol.com / (330) 666-2627 (call between 6:00 – 9:00 PM), or Connie Peplowski at times99@sbcglobal.net  / (440) 442-4521.

Updates on the comp clinic will be on our website, www.neohio-scca.org

National Convention - Sandi Kryder

Reed & Sandi Kryder, Cliff McCandless and Scott Lane all attended the SCCA National Convention in San Antonio TX.   The weather was cool, but a whole lot warmer than at home.  The lunches and dinners had a Tex-Mex flavor (well it was in Texas).  It was an excellent time to mingle with the National SCCA Staff and see what a terrific job they do in running our club.   Hopefully Reed, Cliff & Scott will write something on the convention from their viewpoint.

A lot of seminars were attended by the group.  Some highlights:

New Classes:

As we have all read SCCA has created 4 (5) new classes.  They are - Super Touring, B Prepared, D Prepared, Formula 1000.  The fifth class is not really new Formula SCCA has been around for a while, only the cars ran as Formula Atlantics.  Now they will have their own class.  Bottom line for our National - 30 classes in 2007 compared to 25 in 2006.

Membership

First Gear Membership are now for members under the age of 25 and they can hold a competition license without having to buy a full membership.

Net Income (Loss)      451,645

Pro Racing made money (on paper anyway) and SCCA Enterprises made money.

Registration

Most likely there will be no more medical forms for the drivers to fill out on the entry forms.  This will become effective with the 2008 race season.    Also, it was STRONGLY advised to charge for the temporary memberships.  Guess there are quite a few people out there who are continually getting temporary memberships and thus never have to pay for being an SCCA member.

How rules are changed

The CRB has a conference call on the second Tuesday of each month.  All submissions for rule change consideration need to be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to the conference call.

MVR Double Driver School - Sandi Kryder

As of this writing we have finally gotten all the stewards approvals - what a nightmare that has been.  Between one them being out of the country and another one moving into a new home during the ice storms it just took a while.  However, mission accomplished.   The sanction request has been sent to Topeka and hopefully, we'll have a sanction number by our membership meeting.

Now we need workers, I don't think students will be a problem.  At least not based on the number of phone call I have been receiving.  But then, nothing is a certainty.

Bill Kasmer is the Chief Instructor.  He is in the process of getting his instructors lined up.  Driver's here a chance to teach someone else your skills as a race car driver.

The date of the double school is April 20 - 22.  We have cars on track at noon on Friday April 20th.  Registration will be open at 7:00am with tech opening at 7:15am.  Your help will be greatly appreciated so, if you can break away from work on that Friday come out and work.  I will have the complete entry form in the April TRACK.

MVR National - Sandi Kryder

Our National will be held on May 26-27.  Yes, this is Memorial Day week-end.  We are expecting another big turnout of National Drivers and of course will need workers.

The Schedule/Supps have been submitted to the Chief Steward for approval.  I have most of the Chiefs of Specialty and the trophies will be ordered within the next few weeks.

I hope to have the entries in the mail and available for online registration by the end of March.
