MVR NATIONAL DRIVER'S SURVIVE THE SCCA NATIONAL RUN-OFFS - by Sandi Kryder

I must say, while only being at the Run-Offs for a week, it seems like a month.

Unfortunately, I do not have the story on how some of our members did. Only the results.

Friday

GTL - Bill Pintaric qualified 5th in his Nissan 200SX. He got a good start, but spun on the second lap at corner 8. That in itself wasn't that bad, however, another competitor blew an engine and oiled the track between 11 and 13 - Bill was the 3rd car to spin the oil left on the track - there were no slippery flags out. Since Bill had spun again and really didn't know why, he thought perhaps he had a flat tire so he pitted. This put him a lap down. The tire was fine and he rejoined the race. He was a man on a mission when he left the pits. Put in the seconded fastest lap of of the race.

T1 - David Pintaric qualified 13 in his C5 Corvette and finished 10th. He drove a good race in the very competitive T1 field.

GP - Matt Miller qualified 21st in a Datsun 510. His goal was to finish 12th so he could win a new helmet. Unfortunately, he ended up on the tire wall at 9 with a couple of laps to go. Matt was ok, and the car was ok until it was pulled off the wall.

Saturday

F 500 - Doug Marsh brought home the National Championship. Jeremy Swank qualified 6th and finished 6th, but was DSQ. I know not why. Mike Baum qualified 13th but ran into problem during the race and was not running at the end.

AS - Csaba Bujdoso quaified 15th in his Camaro and finished 7th.

EP - Gary Martz qualified 22nd in his Mazda RX7 and finished 19th.

GT1 - Amy Ruman qualified 3rd and finished 6th. She ran in 3rd for most of the race, but dropped back towards the end. Again, I know not why.

Sunday

FP - David Strittmatter qualified his Lancia in 10th and finished in 10th.
